North Goa, the hub of scintillating beaches 

Continuing from our Part I of Goa Exploration with our lil munchkin, here comes our story of North Goa exploration the next day. This day was marked by the exploration of Morjim, Manderim, Ashwem, Arambol beaches. We started on our bikes, enjoying the blissful nature.

Morjim Beach :

This beach is quite unique in itself, the sand is shiny blackish, fully absorbed with sea water. You’ll spot numerous beautiful, orange purple coloured shells on this really clean beach. Few locals there made me aware of the breeding seasons of sea turtles & their presence on the beach during the winter months. This place is also called “Little Russia”, due to many Russians inhabiting nearby.

Although shacks are limited here, even the restaurants are less (compared to Calangute and Baga beach), this beach is a stopover to relax, and applaud the nature. Who knows when you might be surprised with the Olive Ridley Turtles. 

Manderim Beach :

Moving ahead to less touristy Manderim, Clear blue waters, crystal clear white sand on a vast beach (perfect for beach walk) welcomes you to brighten the spirits. The waves here are not that high, so one can calmly enjoy in water, relax at the sea bed, have some amazing food & drinks at the shacks available there. I did hear that many Health therapies are conducted here during the tourist season. 

Ashvem Beach :

The next stopover had to be Ashvem, which is actually connected to Manderim, but has an altogether different aura. For budget-friendly people like us, Ashvem has turned out to be a perfect “Party Beach” (for people not preferring Baga/Calangute beach). With plenty of beachside shacks, huts & clubhouses, it was a perfect place for some fun time. Southside of this beach is also a nesting site for sea turtles & security has been stepped up in the past to save them. “La Plage” is a lovely place to have some French food amidst unwinding leisurely, and we relished 

Arambol Beach :

From Ashvem, we finally moved to cover up the last beach on that route – Arambol beach. The route well trailing from the mid of Arambol village with narrow lanes, led to the shores of this pretty quaint beach. Being less commercialized, this beach is divided into two parts. The southern stretch with ample sea beds to relax is often termed as Harmal or Arambol & the Northern stretch is generally known as “Kalacha Beach” .Kalacha Beach is accessible within 15-20 minutes of amazing beach walk. Taking the path to Kalacha ,we could spot many fishermen releasing entangled crabs, fishes (lucky enough to catch glimpse of Hammer head).

As we kept on walking in the search of so called “Sweet water lake / lagoon“, this walk made us fall in love with Goa and its pristine nature, once again. 

Lovely rocky formations, surrounded by cliffs on both the side, stalls selling handicrafts and jewellery, we were simply stunned to see Goa at its best there.

It was a tiny beach with a freshwater lagoon perfect for swimming, extending along the valley into the nearby forested area. This tiny beach was devoid of any tourists, it was a juncture perfect for nature lovers, like us. This are is also considered as one of the best for paragliding & dolphin watching. This beach is certainly not to be missed and to experience the divinity of nature.
